Gaining a very important space in recent years, scientific dissemination has always been an essential part of Instituto Espaço Silvestre's work. throughout the history of our work, we have always produced various materials used by thousands of people, which can be accessed here. However, in the quest to further expand scientific knowledge with the entire population, the first portal of the fauna biodiversity of the State of Santa Catarina.
Totally inserted in the Atlantic Forest Biome, the state of Santa Catarina has several very characteristic landscapes, ranging from the high altitude fields in the Serra Catarinense, through the large Araucaria Forests and arriving in the closed forests, restingas and mangroves on the Santa Catarina coast. According to the latest surveys, almost 23% of the territory is natural vegetation, being the state with the highest percentage of remnants of this great Biome.
Regarding fauna, 110 species of reptiles are recognized, 130 species of amphibians, more than 200 species of mammals, 650 species of birds and countless invertebrates, many still unknown. Of all this diversity, the State of Santa Catarina recognizes 275 endangered species, including the purple-breasted parrot.
We believe that knowledge is the best way to preserve nature. Therefore, we will bring in this space, constantly updated, relevant knowledge of the various animal species, in an accessible and responsible way. Together we will be able to fly further and learn more.
