PROTECTING NATURE ISN´T

A RIGHT, IT'S A DUTY.

A LITTLE MORE OF OUR PROJECTS

Since the beginning of our work, Instituto Espaço Silvestre has been dedicated to projects that seek to protect nature in a serious way and committed to the next generations and to technical and scientific knowledge. For this, multidisciplinary teams of specialists are involved daily with the execution of the projects, present in two Brazilian states. In Santa Catarina, we maintain the project to reintroduce the Vinaceous-breasted Amazon in the Araucárias National Park, a reference in animal reintroduction work and winner of numerous national and international awards. Also in the same state, we have been responsible, since 2019, for the coordination of the only Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (CETAS-SC), in conjunction with the Santa Catarina Environment Institute (IMA-SC).

On the other side of Brazil, Instituto Espaço Silvestre supports the Aves de Noronha project in the famous Fernando de Noronha archipelago, belonging to the state of Pernambuco. Through technical training and environmental education projects, our team has brought ways of valuing the local avifauna and producing scientific knowledge about these emblematic animals.

We know the importance and need of our work and, therefore, we are always thinking about new projects and new ways to expand. We are very grateful to all of our supporters and sponsors, as well as to all IES families that are always willing to face daily challenges and smiling for a better future for all species.

BE PART OF OUR CAUSE

THE PROJECTS

  • Reintroduction of Vinaceous-breasted Amazon

Considered one of the most endangered parrots in Brazil, the Vinaceous-breasted Amazon are still victims of animal trafficking. For this reason, in 2010 we started a project to reverse their extinction process in the Araucárias National Park in the state of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil.

  •

    CETAS-SC

Located in the capital of the state of Santa Catarina, IES assumed in 2019 the management of the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. We are responsible for the assessment, recovery, rehabilitation and disposal of wild terrestrial animals from inspection actions, rescues or spontaneous deliveries

  •

    Aves de Noronha

The Aves de Noronha Project has as main objective to redirect the eyes of residents and tourists to the island's rich avifauna, through Research, Education, Citizen Science and Sustainable Tourism, improving the state of conservation and strengthening the local economy.
